Does this subwoofer and amplifier combination spell disaster?

Two Kicker 2-Ohm 12" CompVT's

Hifonics Txi1008D Class D Mono Amplifier

Wired to present a 1-Ohm load on the amplifier resulting in 1000watts to each subwoofer would this overpowering the subwoofers to a dangerously high point? Even if I took the gains down a tad.

i got 1600 watts goin to 2 cvrs that only take 400 a piece

just set the gains and the subsonic fliter u should be fine

the hifonics amps have the filters right on them as well as ur cd deck may have one as well

you having an amp that can do 1600 rms and having the gains all the way down does not mean you are giving them 1600

RMS Power Rating:

4 ohms: 350 watts x 1 chan.

2 ohms: 700 watts x 1 chan.

1 ohm: 1000 watts x 1 chan.

You will only be giving each sub ~500 watts and that is saying the amp will put out a true 1000watts. You should be fine just watch the gains and set the subsonic filter.
