Does the power split when you have 2 subs

Ok I know the anwser everyone will give is yes if 2 subs are hooked up to an amp putting out 1000wrms then the power gets divided 500 would goto each.

But here is the thing. Say it was a 2 channel amp. 500wrms per channel or like 1000 bridged. Now what happens to that power when you bridge the amp and say ran 2 2 ohms subs to it in series. Now the power sould be divided correct? Back to 500 each sub. Here is the problem ive installed a bunch of systems and every time I bridge a 2 channel amp instead of running 1 sub to each channel it is without a doubt louder to my ear. I am always setting gains with a dmm. Can somone explain what this is all about?

So what you're saying... and I'm really trying here.

Is that you have 2 - 2 ohm drivers, and an amp that puts out 500 watts X 2 @ 2 ohms. When you bridge said amplifier, it is capable of 1000 X 1 @ 4 ohms.

When you hook it up bridged, with the gains set for 1000 watts.... AKA 63.2 volts.... it's not as loud as when you run a sub to each channel with the gain for each channel reading 31.6 volts.

And you can HEAR the difference?

What amp and subs are we referring to here?

the last setup was this.

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16349

and it was 2 infinity refernce subs that are dual voice coil.

Original config was 1 sub to each channel wired to 2 ohms each. Set the gain and such sounded OK. Then took both subs wired them in series and put a 4 ohm load on the amp bridged. It sounded a lil bit louder. Im not saying alot but it was a difference.

I dont understand why if the power was split. I could only assume that maybe when the amp is in 2 channel mode it isn't as efficiant as when bridged.
