hey me n my dad are in the market for a 50-inch DLP TV. it has to be a Sony becuz my bro works at sony and we can get a fat discount. and my dad wants it to be DLP technology. i cant seem to find a single Sony DLP tv on-line. does sony use a different term to refer to DLP or something?? any suggestions and help would be highly appreciated 50-inch tv to watch football!!!!

well it depends what you are comparing to... a "better technology" than what? a traditional flatscreen? hell yes it is, i would say from selling tvs for a while that dlp has a better picture than most anything you can buy

Much better than projection, yes.

I personally like the picture of LCD and plasma better, however. To each his own though with their preference.

No Sony does not use the DLP technology. However they do use LCD and another much newer technology called LCOS, which in some ways is better than the DLP technology.

Their SXRD line uses LCOS and is a bit on the pricey side but since your bro gets a huge discount you should definetly ask him about it.

All this is some what irrelevant.

There are different quality Plasma's, LCD's, DLP's and CRT's.

Some LCD's look like complete ***. As well as some DLP's and some Plasma's. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

Fujitsu Plasma's are some of the best around right now, where samsung's DLP technology leaves everyone else in the dust.

Sony {LCD, etc} is competing with Texas Instruments {DLP patent owners},

Sony is too snobby to pay TI royalties thus would never use DLP. /hehe

I think CRT looks best still. Too many flaws with the other technologies if you

are a videophile. I'd rather buy DLP though unless they can make faster responding

LCD's otherwise action looks horrible in LCD. Plasma is very cool but expensive and

starts dying as soon as it's turned on.

Pick the less of the two weivels {Russel Crow}.
