Does ported just sound this way or?

So would by best bet be a nice big box for a sealed dcon or a ported sa10. Guess im really wondering if anyone has got a 28-70hz good responce when porting a sa10 . Also considering sealing an sa10, since its a bigger woofer then the dcon figured it would match output

josh send me some measurements from behind your seat and i can design you a box to play what you want ,i listen to the same type of music ,so your box needs to be tuned around 35-40 hertz to do what you want ,but it also needs to be big enough to play those lower notes, smaller boxes dont play the low notes very well because they are designed to have a smaller freq range

Currnt box. Length is 33in, 17.5 tall, bd is 10in and top is 6in... Could only go a few inches taller max. bottom of the box fits in the tray near perfect.

It really comes alive around 28Hz dies out around 48Hz, but it moves more air at 24Hz then is does at 56Hz. And ide like it to play atleaste up to 70Hz decent

try 31 long 19 tall 10 bottom 6 top, port 1.5 inches x 30 inches long should be around 37 hertz ,push box and sub to passenger side ,sub behind passenger seat leave room for the port to breathe.

I'd go sealed. With 2 subs of your choice. You will have more output than 1 ported, and better sq.
Not true. I went from two CVR 15s sealed to one nice 15 ported and the single 15 completely destroyed the CVRs in every aspect, got much louder, had way better SQ, and got much lower. Really comes down to your enclosures..

With my ported box it plays the high really well, but it makes my trunk rattle way too much and it overpowers the bassline, so I have my LPF turned down lol.

A port wont effect your 50-80hz range no matter where you tune, unless you wanna tune at 45 or 50hz... Doing that will give you no low end a very peaky box. People in this thread keep saying small boxes are "peaky".. Small boxes are NOT peaky by nature any more than a bigger box is. Bigger boxes have a bigger peak around tuning, making them "peaky". A small box has less of a peak near tuning and is less effecient in general, this may make you high notes stick out more, depending on where you tune it. It's all about overall frequency response anyway and any box that gives flat response will sound good. My current box is 4.8 cubes at 25hz and is currently low passed at 140hz and high passed at 20hz... Other than needing a +2db at 80hz where my car has a null and a 4db cut near 40-50 where my car peaks, its a flat response from 20hz to 140hz, amost 4 octaves...

the reason sealed is better than ported for SQ is that they have less group delay.

anyway, the downside to that horn is that it is HUGE.

I agree with the people who said you should just build a ported enclosure with a higher tuning frequency.
