Does brand matter for ANL fuses?

Hi everyone,

I'm on the last stretch of gathering parts for my install. I am looking for 100amp ANL fuse and I want to get atlease 10 of them. But before I go out and by cheap generic, nO name brand, I want to ask first, does Brand matter? I mean does the name brand have better quality over the no name or will they end up doing its job in the end.

as far as voltage goes, i tested voltage with a stinger anl fuse, a cheap no name brand, both got the same voltage to the tenth of a volt...

Fuses are not the same at all. Usually cheaper fuses are thicker and will pass more current. That's great if you're a meca competitor, but if you're looking to actually protect your investment, it's not so good. These guys don't know what they are talking about, measuring voltage across a fuse etc. Clearly they have no electronics experience.

This.

That.

If you have a crappy fuse rated at 100 amps and it takes 140-180 to blow it, you just blew it. The whole point of a fuse is to protect your investment.

Granted, if its on a power wire, chances are it will blow before the wire catches on fire.

ill buy some quality fuse to protect my investment then.

Can you guys help me on figuring out what fuse rate i need for my amp? I have a Kicker IX 500.4 and a kicker IX 500.1 in the hand book it says 2 x 50 ampere. i bought a kicker 09 pkd4, which came with a ANL fuse rated @ 150 amps... Can i use that fuse or should i down grade to 100amp and then 50 amps to the fuses right before the amps? Total i will be installing 3 fuse holders

Id use a 100a fuse at the battery and then use a fused distro. One side a 50a fuse and the other side a 50a fuse.
