does anyone prefer sealed over ported?

I have a 10w7 in a Ported enclosure right now and its very strong, but I want more bass and also want it cleaner.

I was wondering why someone would prefer a Sealed sub enclosure over ported. I want to run more power to my subs and still have the clean bass sound. Is a Downfire Sealed enclosure what I want?

What do you guys think that have had both sealed and ported? differences? benefits?

Thanks!

It depends on the sub and the application. I prefer the sound of w7s more when they're sealed. They're still pretty loud and can dig down low. It may not be what's best for you though and nobody here can really tell you if you like it better or not.

if by sq you mean reproducing the music correctly, having tons of bass is a no no

if by sq you mean pleasing your own ears, and youre looking for more bass, get a second W7 and run them ported

the reason you MAY want better sq, is you MIGHT be pushing your W7 TOO far trying to get more output out of it and it sounds funny

imo, i think youll be happy with a 2nd W7, youll get more output but wont have to stress your drivers as much, if thats what was happening

i prefer sealed over ported... although i'm running a ported box atm.

mainly for space and sq. I recently went ported because i thought i wanted the extra output, but now the extra output is too much for my taste.

Depends on the car. I like the sound of sealed, but the output isnt enough at times. Running a second sub will should be more then enough to get the extra output yet keep the same overall sound.

In my truck with a very small cabin, I can't stand ported; the bottom end has way too much emphasis.
I much prefer sealed to ported. If I want extra output I'll do it the right way and add drivers or more power. Overall, I've been pleased with the output of most long throw drivers I've heard in sealed apps.

I have a regular cab Dodge. it has more room behind the seats than other manufacturers. I cant fit two 10w7's ported, but I CAN fit two 10w7's sealed. I just wanted same output but more accuracy.

Yes you can do that. You'll get the increased accuracy and the output should either be at least on par, if not slightly more.

sealed all teh way. I had a Mag 15 ported and now i have 2 Mag 15's sealed and they hit hard as hell and sound **** good. Don 't know if i get more room if i'll go back to ported. Sealed.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
