Most cars electrical components wont like 16v systems, if that's what you are getting at. Even 14v will have you charging at 16.5 or so... I wouldn't risk it. I may be way off base, but the components in a car are designed to run on 14v or less.

You can run 14 volt systems most of the time with no issues. But if you want a 16 volt system you need to have two separate voltages running through your car.

Yes u most of u are right I'm talking about running at a higher voltage I do nor want a charging system ay 18 volts I was thinking a safer 16 colt charging system idk of ir can take it or not just curios would love some extra juice

I would just make your current 12v system as stout as possible. Cheaper than buying all new batts and alt/regulator etc..

[MENTION][/MENTION]You can run up to 15.9 after that good luck also 15.9 on a loong trip on 12.8 agm batts will mean they will have a way shorter life 2 because the higher voltage combined with high heat = fail. just do a dual alt setup, set one of your alts to charge at 16 volts and use that to charge your back batts, then use the stock alt to run your front batt.

Yeah it is the cheapest way is 1 of those 3 post kinetiks run the 12 volt side to the cars electrical and the 16 volt side out to the 16 volt batts in back but that is still costly but not quite as bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hes prolly gonna have to buy an ho alt anyways, so all he has to do is make a bracket for the second alt.

Your options for batteries in a car normally are 12V and 16V. 12V batteries must charge at 14 and 16V batteries must charge at 18. Charging 12V battery to 16V will kill it very quickly, likewise charging a 16V battery at 16 won't do you any favors (though at least it probably won't boil and or explode).

Why exactly do you feel you need to go over the standard 12V?
