Does any bass remote work on any amps?

Unless you know for a fact that the circuit design of the remote is correct and all the values of the components that make up the circuit are correct for the amp, you can't use it with a particular amp. Period.

There are universal gain controls that will work with any amp. They go inline in the signal cable going to the amp rather than plugging into the amp itself.
