I would like to get one, but i need to know if they work first
i got one for my car, all it did was make the engine sound louder, it might have helpped a little but i can't tell.
Oh, I forgot about the loud a$$ noise under acceleration, whistling noise at idle, and ******* sound as the car is shut off. On the other hand, they are a nice peice of engine bling. You can make your '72 Ram Van a racecar mang!i got one for my car, all it did was make the engine sound louder, it might have helpped a little but i can't tell.
My experience was with a 2000 Civic Coupe. The engine definetley would rev better at higher rpm's, but there was a noticeable loss of torque down low, like leaving a stoplight.
slim-rare, yep. this shouldn't even be an issue, unless you like to drive your car into ponds. but even with a factory box, this is always a possibility. while i'll agree that most cold air kits aren't designed to allow water to drain off like some factory boxes, unless you are going off road, this just shouldn't even be an issue. and if it's poorly drained streets your referring too, i'd be more worried about drowning out the ignition then hydrolocking the engine. unless the street/water standing on it will go over the hood, then common sense tells ya not to drive thru it.Personally, that loss, coupled with the posibillity (though slim-rare) of hydrolocking your engine if it sucks water was enough for me to remove it.
a filter will help in the factory box, but not be as effective. one of the biggest reasons for getting a CAI is to lose the big restrictive box. so while the filter will help, it isn't nowhere near the same.I think a K&N filter element replacement does a better job in the factory airbox. That's why my curent Civic Si still has a factory airbox w/ a K&N element (though my current cars air filter is a huge round can affair like what's found at the end of those intakes.Hope that diatribe helps. I think they are a waste.
its pretty the equivalent(sp?) of the pr300.2 its just 2 years old and they dont call it that anymoreoff topic...but this has been bugging me....WTF is a memphis pr600? i know memphis makes a pr500d and a pr1000d. adn they have several a/b amps that run from 35 watts a channel up to around 150watts a channel (just checked thewebsite to make sure). but i've never seen a pr600..
please don't take this wrong. i'm just being a bit anal, no offense intended!
