Do you think Car Audio will die?

I worked at sears a few years back and HDMI cables were dirt cheap. Something like 15 bucks for 10-15 feet. I go in there now and they are freaking 80 bucks WTF. Wish I knew that was going to happen.

Did get some clearance Monster RCAs for super cheap. 12' composite cables for 2.50 each.

wtf, are you talking about, you can buy 10ft HDMI cables online for like $3

Car Audio will be around for a long time. when cars fly people will want good music.

what i think will happen is the revival of the local mom and pop shop. bestbuy has flooded the market with passable equipment for the everyday person and has over saturated the market. margins for car audio as well as levels of disposable income for middle class families are shrinking. What i believe is best buy will shrink its market share to a few stores offering car audio products and install per district. i do not think they will get out of it becasue they get a large number of buyers in this catagory that will only shop at bby becasue of perseived value in national warrenties and credit card terms that mom and pop can not offer. plus the car audio dept at best buy is by far there most profitable in margin percentage. bby makes noting per computer they sell or video games and video game systems. they make there money on the warenties and geek squad.

what i do think will happen is mom and pop will becime more focused on alternative payments(credit cards) and begin to serve the cuteomes with a better product mox as well as a personal level of service in this speciality field. bby cant hire some 18yr old kid and teach them car audio with computer modules and bs certifications. mom and pop need to get out there and tell people COME HERE WE CAN OFFER YOU MORE FOR LESS AND A BETTER BUYING EXP THE BBY.

i worked at best buy for 10 years all in the car audio dept. i was part of the national retail advisors board as well as a district led install trainer. i had to teach many of these kids how the biz ran and how to ge tit to run profitabley. not all have the head for the game its not all about putting speakers in a door or bump in the trunk.

finally, i dont believe car audio will go anywhere, mom and pop are goingto get there share of the market back that bby and circuit city took becasue the big boxes dont understand our business or care too. dont get me wrong, bestbuy has a TON of t alented installers and people in the company who really love car audio but i dont believe they will come out on top of the car audio battle of customers in the next few years until corperate decided to focus on it...and they wont....i have begged and emailed and went to minnisota and talked to senior vps about this stuff and nadda...thats when i decided to leave.

Im talking from the average consumer perspective. The ones who come in and ask for an HDMI and will pay anything so they can run home to their dynex lcd with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and bottom line 5.1 rca sound system.

I'm gonna buy a $10 50' HDMI cable at some point and test it against the VERY expensive "name brand" cable my wife bought and see if I can tell the difference...I suspect there will not be any difference.

I wouldn't vouch for any of the really long cables. Most of the arguments I've seen comparing cheap cables vs. the "Monster" shit have the stipulation that we're talking about normal lengths (

I don't get commission. I also don't pride myself on being some scum salesman "able to sell anything if I know enough about it". Brochures and marketing=/=knowledge. Not to say there aren't people in my store who are completely fucking clueless, but oh well.

People need to stop embracing shitty quality mp3's and mp3 players. Soon as people stop ******* Steve Jobs' dick for mp3s, paying the same fucking price, for a worse sounding, not nearly as convenient and flexible media. The music industry will collapse before actual enthusiasts and enthusiast companies stop buying and playing. The percentage of those people will be microscopic, however.

my love for car audio will never die...but paying $40 a run and per category at comps and only getting a shitty *** plastic trophy is killing it for me...lol they need cash prizes ftmw
