do you need to break in a XXX?

hey do I need to break in my 12" XXX? someone told me i need to play it at 1/4 volume for 50hours or so...what would you guys say?

50 hours? that would take forever.... especially if you cant have it hooked up 24 hrs a day.

I wouldnt worry about breaking it in.

just play it reasonably for a couple days and that'll do it

yup, just dont plug it right in and start playing test tones at full blast, let it loosen up a little, thats for all subs

breaking in a sub is really up to you man. the sub technically doesnt need it, but the surround will be kind of stiff. its all in your preference. if you want to bump at full volume right when you get it go for it.

Well, I broke in my L7's, but there has been topics about "breaking in xxx".. many people will have their own opinion. " Yes you do, or else you will mess your sub up" , or " No you don't, it doesn't make a difference".... So on, and so fourth. To be on the safe side, I would. But thats just me. Other people would oppose, and say not to. It's up to you honestly.

if you plan on keeping the sub along time why wouldn't you give it at least a couple hours of break in time before hammering on it...wouldn't that be considered taking care of an investment...i hate it when s**t breaks and i have to send it in...under 1600 wrms i wouldn't worry too much

thats actually the first thing i did with my Ti, 24Hz free-air test tones right out of the crate, I have yet to have problems.
