Do you get frequently shocked by your vehicle?

It seems like every f'in time i drive somewhere, when i get out of my truck and reach for the door, i get a huge static electricity shock.

Just now, about 5 minutes ago, i got shocked before my hand even touched the door, and i could literally see a blue spark between my hand and the door.

does this happen to anyone else?

I have noticed the same thing. When i drive a 06 camry owned by by grandparents, regardless how i try to ground myelf before getting out of the car,, I ALWAYS GET A NASTY static shock. It is very strange. in all of the other cars i own or drive,, this does not happen. I have exhausted every reasonable possibility of why this happens on this particular car. I think it might come down to improper grounding and possibly dc entering the frame and chassis.

happens in my moms car every single time

the avalanche does it a lot to not as much tho

Thats a common problem with faulty grounds. The agreed method to correct it is to usually strip a portion of the ground wire and power wire and put a "jumper" wire between the two to isolate the ground and allow a free flow of extra energy to discharge when turning off the vehicle.
Worked for this guy http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=360316&

Edit: should've read the thread before I commented //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've had various vehicles that always had this problem. Got in the habit of grabbing onto the metal part of the door BEFORE stepping out. That way any static charge discharges from my shoe to the ground. No more shocky.

yes it happens to me at gas stations all the **** time. it annoys the hell out of me. come to think of it, i get shocked alot. the other night i went to pet my cat and i guess i had some static built up inside me.. she put her nose to my finger and got zapped. i swear she jumped 5 feet in the air. was funniez

happens to me every now and then on my car. more often on my moms lexus.

my grandmothers 1990 buick lesabre does it every single time, whether its the door to close it, or the actual handle (she has fabric seats, mine and my moms car have leather so i can see why it does it more in her fabric car than ours)

but i look like a retard when i try to touch the door fast to make sure its not gonna shock me, before i close it, lol
