People hesitate to use buckshot in their house because it can easily penetrate walls and possibly kill or injure someone on the other side that the shooter isn't aware is there. If you live in a house or apartment with several family members or close neighbors, it is a valid issue.
X2 a light birdshot would still be effective at close range and I doubt it would penetrate a wall.
I doubt I will get a CCL but I always have a gun in my home. Im wanting to get a shotgun for home defense bad. But untill then I still have the AK. I also read an article debating the use of shotguns compared to a small handgun. One of the downfalls expressed with a shotgun was the ability to round corners without being seen first. Even with a 16 inch barrel its hard to do. Using a small handgun held close to the body you can round corners easier.
