Do subs worsen your hearing?

i went to the doctors for a physical for a job and they said my hearing was excellent...i then proceeded to say "huh". they did not find it too funny. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ive been playing loud music in my cars for about 5 years now. i was worried about hearing loss but i dont "quad" 24/7.

Yeah, they'll damage your ears. The bigger problem that some don't know about is that your hearing doesn't repair itself. Only help will be with an aid. On a good note i've been listening to loud music for a long time and my hearing is still good. I get annual physicals.

im sure 20Hz and down wont harm you..hell theyre supposed to be inaudable, right?
inaudible doesn't mean it won't harm hearing. Watch an SPL meter when you play low freq, it it moves, your eardrums are moving too.

Subs don't hurt hearing, playing loud music through them does!!

I'm with req, that db's of a higher freq, say midrange, are more damaging because they appear as 'constant' noise. DB A weight vs DB C...it's the A that'll get ya. Thats' why a jet engine 140db SOUNDS louder than my stereo 140db at 37hz. Full-spectrum ear-bleed.

the 24 inch subs dont damage your hearing because they are so big and mechanically they create a different soundwave that doesnt damage ears. also 8s dont peak in the right spot they hurt ears the worst. so if you want to keep your hearing i suggest getting a 34 inch sub. they are the best thing in the world..

good bye

Look what happened to that guy!

ha.

do a test for yourself. Sit in a 150db car, playing a low hz note. Then put on 20,000k hz and see what is more damaging.

I'd bet my dollar that you would find 20,000k to be more damaging, more irritating/annoying, and of course more harsh.

dl a song by steve vai called "Alien Water Kiss" turn that up all the way and sit by a speaker/tweeter.

go for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

**by the way, im not encouraging these actions, if any hearing damage results its not my fault**

Well if you work in a factory and have an outside company come in to do hearing testing, they will tell you any thing over 85ds //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif for an extended amount of time will cause hearing damage. The dont care if its lows or highs just how many dbs it is. I know if you are on the site you must be playing your music louder then 85db //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

i never knew some of you guys have a constant ringing in your ears from your systems. ive got a pretty bad case of hearing sensitivity loss in my left ear. one day me and a buddy decided to take his nine millimeter into the canyon to shoot at night. on the way home there was a bullet in the chamber so he fired it out the window.. the LEFT one.. right behind my ear.. ow did that shit hurt. i woke up the next morning and my left ear felt like it had water stuffed in it. turns out it hasnt got better since and i cant hear the higher frequencies in my left ear. succs like shit. i wonder why i didnt get a constant ring though and u guys did.
