Do Not Buy From Woofersetc.com!

Ive got some bad news for any of you who have purchased any Focal products from Woofersetc.com. Recently, I purchased a pair of Focal 130KP speakers from woofersetc.com. When they arrived, they just didnt quite look right. I turned them over to look at the serial number, and there was a sticker with a bar code in the place where it should have appeared. Focal says that they have the serial number engraved, and the box also states this. This set off some alarms in my head. With my curiosity aroused, I decided to peel the bar code back to see what it was hiding. When I got the sticker off, I saw that half the serial number was scratched off! What was left of it was the beginning of the serial number that can be found on all the fakes, 15B002196. Mine said 15B00 with the rest scratched off. It was obvious that these were fake!

I already own a pair of 136K, so I started to compare the two. I started to notice some very slight differences.

1. There was no card with the serial number on it.

2. The butyl rubber surround was cheap looking compared to the real thing. It was dull and not glossy at all.

3. The braided tinsel leads were a dull gray instead of a shiny gold color.

4. The yellow woven fiber cone looked different.

-It was slightly brighter yellow

-Woven material was done in a cheap fashion with lots of space between sections

-It lacked a glossy top coat

5. The white back of the cone was MUCH thinner and less rigid.

6. The plastic rings for the grill had larger holes for the screws that the real ones.

-The inside of the plastic ring was flat, not fitted to the speaker.

-The logo on the grills lacked the holographic finish.

I know that I should have gone to an authorized dealer, but I will be talking to Woofersetc.com tomorow when they are open. I just want to put a warning out there to everyone. Think twice about shopping at this site. Just because they are a big site doesnt mean that they are any good.

maybe they were scammed by their distributor. No way you can really pin that on them but if they did that.........they should burn in hell. They should offer you your money back in the very least

At the CES show in Vegas a few weeks back Focal released a statement to all dealers and make them sign dealer agreements that if anyone sells online or below msrp they will be cut off from the line. I am assuming they are removing the numbers to keep from getting cut off.

Woofersetc has been selling Focal for years and years i am sure if they had been selling fakes Focal and the police would have already been all over it.
