Do my Batt's need charging?

well guys i did more testing, and i think the alt is not spinnin fast enough at idle cuz between the 0 and 1 rpm on the rpm gauge my voltage reads 12.3 and 12.6 then if i rev it just a little bit just a tiny bit to the 1 rpm number it dramatically goes up to 13 or 13.5 volts then if i rev it a little further to like 1/2 or 2 rpm on the rpm guage it dramaticaly goes up to over 14 volts close to 15 volts i think ill just need a smaller pulley so the alt could spin faster @ idle, any other suggestions?

btw...the 1 on your tachometer means 1000 rpm the 2 means 2000 rpm and so on

i would charge them with a trickle chrge every one in a while

It shouldn't continue to climb with RPM. Is this sinking it at all. IT SHOULDN'T CONTINUE TO CLIMB WITH RPM!

you mean the voltage souldnt climb when i rev it? wouldnt that make the alt spin faster wich would make it produce higher voltage? etc

Under no load the alt should produce full voltage at idle. Not full current, full voltage. If it doesn't something is wrong. If you rev the engine and the voltage continues to climb, something is wrong.

ea alts are shitty they dont do rated and have a very low idle output...if you wanna keep the alt id get an mla and use that tlo boost idle voltage

yeah my friend got one for his matrix at idle he is sitting at 12.6-8 and he has an underdive pulley as well. it does almost rated at high rpm he benched his to do 160 at 2000 rpm...so still okay but better companies out there he is getteing an mla module to compensate....te low idle voltage....if i was you id do that....im ordering my alt from ho alts...my ebay one didnt do even close to rated ... we tested it to only do 90 amps at 2000 and 40 at idle..

the ho alt im getting is sapossed to do 200 at 2000 and 100 at idle, so when ot arrives ill bench it and post results..... my friend has a carbon based loadtester and an ameter so we can accurately test up to 500 amps..

****it although the alt is beastly at putting out whatever amps my system needs the voltage at idle is like u said 12.6 12.8 but mine puts out almost 14 volts @ 2000 rpm wich is ok i guess but yeah deff ill be lookin in to other companys, are those iraggy alts any good? i heard mechman was nice too, does mla have a website hopefully there not pricey lol

mla is just a module to up your voltage...

my freinds is exactly as yours with at ide it is at 12.6 but just riasing the rpm's by 200 it jumps to 13.8ish...

like i said the cheapest answer is an mla module i belive they have a website try and google mla module....

i hate irragi alts... they are very poorly built..not good at all imho.. i have looked at its buid quality and it sucks.. mechman has great reveiws a friend of mine has one on order and on its way i consider them to be as irragi was when he first started out good but as the orders rise and money come pooring in you look for cheaper and faster ways to pump out the orders that us why i truely believe irragi alts have gone down hill. .

mechman may be the second cheapest solution... he has great customer service as well..... i am going with ho alternaters due to their great reveiws and the fact that no one in hawaii has them....... so i wanna be different...
