do i really need that ****** phone?

So I'm on the edge between getting the new iPhone 3G or sticking with my LG Vu.

Help me decide:

I want music. The main thing I want is a device that will do it all. My Vu isn't good enough (SQ wise, GUI wise, etc) for music playing. Not to mention their is not dock for a vu for music.

I want one device i can bring, so i don't have my pockets full with my wallet, keys, phone, music player, headphones, etc. It's just a pain in the ***.

But do i need that 30 dollar a month data plan (me thinks it will be cheaper for me because I get a corporate discount. YAY!)? I don't think I'll use the data enough to warrant 30 dollars worth of use, not saying i wont use it ever, but shit, I don't think I'm that big of a nerd to need internet 24/7. I'll be going to college so email's aren't a must on my phone, I'll have my laptop.

I just basically want an all-in-one media device/phone.

and it has to be for AT&T, i have a contract with them.

help me out.

i know. I hate apple quite literally with a passion, but i needed a new contract, and my aunt works for microsoft and gets a huge corporate discount for plans and phones (except the iphone, but still discounted plans).

I don't want to buy some unlocked phone (Nokia N series comes to mind) because I just signed a contract with AT&T.

I have the Vu right now, but i'll be honest, it's for TV first and foremost. I want a phone that plays music. Very well. and the iPhone can't be beat for that regard. But is it worth it?

i don't like the menus, and the fact i continually have to change the texting option to keyboard (thats the one i want! not some shitty T9!)

can i not make that standard?

The SQ for the Vu is good for R&B and Rap songs, but it sucks for rock songs. I dunno. I'm on the edge because new headphones might change that problem, but i've tried others...

I dunno.

I'm still on the edge man. I don't need the TV. It's lame.

If i could find change the texting to standard keyboard i'd be much much happier.

Plus the accelerometer is very nice too.
