Do I really need External Crossovers?

Hi,

I'm in the market for some good guality aftermarket speakers for my 01 Mustang Cobra and had a question.

I see that all the top speaker component systems have external crossovers that will need to be install somewhere when swapping out my speakers....

My question is....do i need these external crossovers if i will be powering the speakers with a 4-channel aftermarket amp that already have a built in low and hi pass crossover?

Well, unless you have seperate outputs for both the tweeter and midbass on the amp you'd still need to seperate them out somewhere between the two drivers. Those filters simply adjust what's getting through the outputs...but theyd still need the highs to get to the tweeter and the mids/lows to get to the midbass...

So yes, some form of crossover will be needed

And this is assuming youre wanting to run a component setup, not coaxials..

Yes...I do want to have component all around....to give a better and cleaner overall sound.....
