do i need to add fuse to power line ?

iv been reading threads and did a search and it seems some people put fuses on the power cable going from battery terminal to amp... if the amp already comes with fuses that u can pull out then you dont need an extra fuse do you?

yes you do its not to protect the amp but to protect the wire and such in case it gets cut or something and touches ground...

As was mentioned...the fuse in the power line isn't to protect the amp...it's to keep your car from catching on fire if the wire were to short out. Yes, you absolutely need it.

Place the fuse as close to the battery as possible.

If the power wire gets cut/touches metal it could short out since it is still connected to the battery. This could then catch your car on fire. Not worth the risk of losing your car or your life over a $10 fuse holder and a $2 fuse.

And, as I mentioned...place it as close as physically possible to the battery.

oh ok i getcha, because the ground is literally grounded to the metal in the car, if the power wire touches ANY metal in the car it could short it out?

Yeah...if you bought an amp kit, it should include a fuse block.

If not...that's one cheap and crappy *** amp kit.
