Do I need "Ground wire"?

Alright so, I'm upgrading the wiring under my hood from 4awg to 1/0. (For big 4)

I've seen power cable advertised as "ground wire".... is there any actual difference? Or are they just trying to get me to spend more money?

Is there anything wrong with using "power wire" as "ground wire"?

If ground wire is "legit", where can I get it by the foot?

And does anyone know if THIS(WoofersEtc.com - 0-Gauge - American Accessories 0 Gauge Power Cable) wire is true AWG? It seems kind of cheap for 1/0....

There is no difference between ground and power cables other than their placement within the circuit. And there's nothing particularly inexpensive about the wire you linked to, if it is indeed true spec and ofc.

Aesthetics? It's wire lol.

I was using brands like memphis/stinger to base the other wire off of.... that's why I thought the AA was a bit cheap. Stinger wants like $9 a foot!

Grounds should be short as possible, to limit the amount of resistance in the line from length. In other words, shorter is better.

But, as said, there are many brands out there now with good quality wire. Just stay away from the cheap Bullz Audio stuff!

The only reason they claim it's ground wire is most likely just color coated or it just has negative marking on it for dummies.

Its tinned copper, thats why it is silver in color. Tinning helps prevent corrosion. Pure copper is prone to oxidize (turn green) and that impedes electrical connections. Kicker, Monster and Stinger all tin their OFC.
