Do I need maestro?

I am looking to replace the factory head unit on my wife's 2011 Subaru Forester XT Touring. The car has these features we would like to retain:

Steering Wheel controls
Backup Camera
Factory Subwoofer (with built-in amp IIRC)

I am having trouble finding details about whether I need maestro for this setup. Crutchfield does not include it in any of the recommended install packages, but they also don't include the backup camera as a retained vehicle feature. If anyone can help me figure this out, I'd appreciate it.

Have you spoken with one of the reps? They should have all that info on file.

I finally did. They said that maestro is required for the backup camera to work. Seems odd to me.

That is the great thing about Maestro products, they are very thorough. Downside is the price tag.
