Am I? batteries:

1) Start the car.

2) Can fill in the power if the alternator can't meet immediate electrical load. OBVIOUSLY temporarily since if it can't meet the electrical load, it won't charge the battery either while struggling.

If you consistently use more than alt rated power, your batteries are consistently draining without support from the alt.

Adding 5 batteries will get you 5x the play time under such constant overload condition. It will also take 5x longer to charge them when they are near depletion; also requiring an under-rated-load for the alternator to catch up.

You'll still have to wait with the alternator not being utilized by the sound system long enough for your 5 batteries to get recharged. If you pump up the bass again, there you go... using all the amps power and making it unable to charge the battery. Then you end up with a dead battery and a car stuck in the emergency lane.

People wouldn't upgrade alternators ever if you could put 2 batteries in and run indefinite amounts of power. We'd all be running 5 amp alternators with 30,000 watt systems. Electrons don't come from thin air.
