Do I need an amp?

In early december i got a new sound system put in my car (head unit, front component speakers, back 2-way speakers). I am now discovering that i might need an amp. Whenever i turn up the volume really loud the sound gets fuzzy. I have to turn the bass way down so that the fuzzyness goes away. Would getting an amp fix this problem? or are my speakers just not made to perform at such a high volume?

1. An amp will make the speakers sound 100% better.

2. A combination of an amp, plus tweaking crossover settings will fix your distortion problem.

you'll notice a big difference even with a low powered amplifier.

an amp will do wonders, but also make sure not to over power them...depends on what kind you have.

Those speakers could possibly be blown as well. When you upgrade to the amp, see if that clears it up. But my guess is you need some new drivers too.
