do i need a second fuse

That's fine. The fuses are to protect the cable from arking more than the amp from burning up.

Sigh misinformation.... Unless you are running a competition system yes either run a distribution block or run an inline fuse to your amp. Let's be sure to be clear the fuse by your battery is to protect your vehicle from burning down if there's a short the fuse by your amp is to protect your amp. 10-1 says your amp manufacturer actually states you should run an inline fuse.

I take it you have no idea how much more current you can send through a fuse before it pops? I have personally ran a 3000+ watt setup on 35 amps of fusing for 30 second park and pound runs. People have ran even more to drop classes. Does that make sense to you? In your mind set it should have popped in a split second.

Stop giving people bad info when are you going to learn? There is no fuse on that amp and your telling him he only needs one at the battery. Your advice is yet again wrong.

Taken from Crutchfield:

"Q: Do I need a separate fuse block too?

A: A safe system will have the right fuses installed at each amplifier and also on the power cable by the battery. But if you've ever taken a peek at some multi-amp competition-style car audio systems, you may have noticed fuses at a third location — in a fuse block by the amps. Sure this hardware looks good, but is it necessary?

If your amplifiers have on-board fuses, you don't need another set. But if your amplifiers don't each have their own fuses, you definitely do need to fuse each amp's power line near the amp. Often this is done with a fused distribution block, so each amp gets its power line fused as it's split off from the main power cable. This makes it so that if one amp suffers a catastrophic short circuit, for instance, the damage will not spread to the other amps or your main power cable."

I'm not going to argue with someone that links crutchfield as a source. How about you go to a meca event and see how good fuses work. Then after you have your own experiance you will see for yourself.

3000 watt set up for a 30 second bass line on 35 amps.... That is all, go home

If a amp is pulling enough current to blow it the damage is already done.

Well multiple sources call for it I have linked them but we're supposed to take the advice of someone who doesn't even have a system and everyone here knows is full of ****...Please feel free to stick to off topic and thunderdome but leave the advice to people who aren't going to get someone's $500 amp fried.

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/thunderdome-forum-members-only/609746-my-last-post.html What people think of your advice...

My system.. well what I have now before I complete the new system with my new 2200rms sound qubed that says on the website requires EXTERNAL FUSE!!!!

I have a few minutes to explain right now and try to dumb it down for you.

Fuses are rated by current right? Ok we know this.

If a amp is pulling a lot, HUGE current spike because it takes A LOT more than rated to blow them than the amp is already faulty.

Does that make any sence? Oh btw I could roll into a burp on that same 3k setup on 15 amps of fusing.
