Do i need a second battery?

run a ground directly to the amp, or to the same bolt your amp ground is on and check the stock battery. you dont have a lot of reserve or capacitance and an older stock battery will have even less

as boomin said feel the wires when you're dropped to the 11s and see whats hot.

also why is your alternator 4 pin plug disconnected, and what size is the alternator wiring? if you have a 350a alternator you need a direct run from alt to batt to amp of 1/0 or greater

you also need a direct 1/0 from the alternator to the battery, block, and chassis (4ga might be fine because of redundancy)

Its actually a new battery...less than 6 months old but just not a car audio battery. Im leaning toward just getting more 0 gauge and running the ground back up to the battery. Seems like that would be the best way to avoid ground troubles

50ft of 1/0 welding cable, lugs, and a crimper are your friend. same with a multimeter, check voltage at the alternator when you're at 11.5 at the amp. all the voltages should be the same or within .5v

Will do...and do you think the ground i used was a bad ground? People ive talked too in person said its ok but i really question their car audio knowlage as their systems are rigged in lol

sorry to hop on this lol but i came for the exact question almost.....my stuff is all stock and i'm only running a 500/1 right now, and the lights dim a lot....i plan on running 1200 soon, would an extra battery in the trunk benefit me??

it doesnt look like there's much surface area actually contacting the body. having lower voltages at the amp than up front will indicate this, as well as excessive heat on your ground wire.

if the smaller wire coming off the alternator is the ground you're talking about id definitely make it a larger size connected directly the battery because that looks like 6 gauge

so i watched your video again, i think you're going to be better off finding a piece of sheet metal close to the amp thats thick and drilling a hole and putting a bolt through. on the back end of the bolt under the car you can run a ground wire directly to your battery. you should be drawing 250a of current and i dont see that seat bolt doing it

Well is it a ground ? yes, Is it a good ground ? No Its a performance thing and you want the most out of your amp so you got to give it power to work with. Like wew lad said, get crimpers and some cable and a good meter and you can get the most out of your equipment.

Will do. Gonna order some more 0 gauge and run the ground from the amp back up the the front battery. Will look into getting a meter and crimpers as well. Plan on doing my door speakers all out with sound deadening and getting the 80PRS so im sure ill need it.

If your alt has a ground stud on it -I have Singers and they have a post to attach your ground to it and run back to the amp and that would be the best ground possible and even if no stud put your lug on alt mount bolt. Let us know how it works out ok

Threadjacked. Do the big 3 if it hasn't been done already.

barefooted...lol One thing nice about FL. You can walk around shoeless!!
Ok just watched the vid. What's that red wire from the alt going to?
Lmao was trying to avoid that! Yea man i was just chilling at the house until work. The red wire goes to whatever it went to with the stock alt. I wasnt sure as its ran into a wire loom and out of sight
