Do i need a controller from the alternator to the battery

Do i need a controller from the alternator to the battery

i have one 300 amp alternator going to a battery nothing is connected to the vehicle power at all so i want this to be seperate from the vehicle power will the alternator turn off when the battery is charged or do i need a part to control that so it shuts off when the battery is charged ? thank you for your time

So this is a 2nd alternator and only running to your rear batteries?  Is it internally regulated?
