do i need a bigger box

hey guys i have 4 12s there tidal audio subs there made by id. there in a box that is a tad under 4.5 cubic feet net. there is 2 subs per chamber and for some reason im having a issue with lower notes. the subs are not seeing as much power as they should b. im about 1000 watts or so less then what the 4 calls for. each sub fs is like 20 and the xmax on these are 17mm. is there a issue with the lack of power or is the box just to small? oh yea the subs are now 2 weeks old and the 4 are only seeing 500 or so watts at 1 ohm. thanks my luv's

Yeah, those Tidal subs require more air space than normal. Go for around 6-7ft^3 if you decide to build a new box. You're not going to get as good of low-end as you would with a ported box, but it'll be better than what you have now.

i will not b able to do much at this time. i know i need a new amp would that help out a tad ? im not sayin will the lower end b better but the overall output should b alot better with another 1000 watts to the 4?

u have to look at it this way each sub is in 1 cubic feet thats not far off for a single 12 sealed. to b honest i spoke with the guys from id and they where like thats fine i could go up to 1.5 cubic feet sealed. so thats 6 , your subs are what ported its gona b a bigger box.

hmmm, I don't think you stated they were sealed in your first post. Do you have room for ported or no?

hmm did i say they where sealed i dont know i have not slept at all in like 30 hours or so lol. i have room for 5 cubic feet , i have a 03 tiburon get. i have a nice big 100 ah battery back there so the box and battery gives me a little room for a amp. i think i need a bigger box along with wiht 1000 more watts. i have not tried any test tones do to the fact the subs are new and im not looking for any issues with them. im pretty much happy with how it sounds and they do play the lower notes but its just not what i thought.

i have been easy on the subs i dont have alot of power to them. i have 500 at 1 ohm to them, my deck goes up to 62 i have not gone past 42. last night i went up to 48 with no issue , my deck setings is fine and my amp seting's is fine so there is no issue. i have to clean up my wires today i have to run up to wally world for some stuff so when i head out i will check the subs .

i just got back home from going to get some food. i cleaned my car out i had alot of stuff just siting on my back seats etc.i have to say somting good must of happen cuz now i can play lower notes. i do wana add my deck goes up to 62 and for the most part i would stay aroundn 38 ish but befor i was around 49 and boy did it move some air even though i need more power. my wheel was moving my front wipers where moving. i guess cleaning my car and just doing some more testing and fine tunning helped. yup

Tune makes a huge difference as you've noticed!

Sealed box takes a little more power to bump them like a ported box, you need more power.

yea after moving things around and fine tuneing i just think i need that 1000 watts or so to get them moving. im sure if they where in a biger box i would b so happy with 1200-1500. i dont wana overpower them cuz of the lack of space im giving them. i just picked up a flash drive and im DL some songs and im gona do some testing.

well id calls for bigger boxs for this line. ported is crazy big, each sub sealed needs 1.5 after displacement. my subs are seeing about 1after all said and done.for the most part it must b the lack of power where talking like 100 watts for each sub. the amp does 500 at 1 ohm , my rise is around 2-2.5 ohms so each sub is seeing like 80-125watts kinda weak lol.
