Do I Have Enough Power For A Sub??

I just purchased an Alpine Reciever (Spec = 45 watts peak power (16 watts RMS) x 4; Micro Dynamics high-power amplifier). Also puchased two 6.5" Pioneer speakers (160 watts peak power) and two 5 1/4" speakers (130 Watts peak power). SO...With all that said....do u think i could get a subwoofer without overpowering my new reciever?? I just want some thump, not a lot. Clarity and quality are the main goals

welcome to ca.com and the answer is most likely no. you really would want to amp a sub...in addition, you certainly don't want to send a full range signal to a sub.

No you dont have enough to run them just of the HU. You will need an amp.

Your speakers will thank you if you put an amp on them as well. Even the smallest amp will sound better than HU power.

ya there is really no way around this one. you need an amp to power a woofer properly.

i dont know what sub yet...i'll figure that out later. But my speakers are fine right (specs at top)? i mean...from what u guys know...they wont be over powered by a decent sub w/ amp? (forgive me if thats a dumb question but im new to the car audio game)

there's plenty of drivers in the 100-200watts range. powering them should be cheap as well.
