Do BTL's actually sound decent or are they all loudness?

reason that i'm asking is because i decided against re-doing my cutlass this year and buying an SUV due to having a third child now. In particular, i'll be picking up a used Tahoe or Yukon and i will have some real space to play around with now. I still plan on throwing in my 12" XXX's but if they aren't loud enough i was trying to see what is louder and still sounds decent.

opinions

If in your setup the woofers will have significant coil travel, the BTL is going to lose any semblance of linearity. In other words, it'll sound like *** when it gets moving.

I'd rather have the XXX's if sounding decent is anywhere on your list of priorities...

of course it is, and i strongly suspect that 2 XXX's and 3600-4000 watts in a yukon will be plenty. The Fi boner has always left me wondering as to how the BTL's really sound though.

i got an 18 " BTL in the back of my truck seats and it sounds great at high volumes. you need to have a huge box and tune that shit in the low 30's give it hella power and you wont be disappointed plus you'll save $$$$$ to buy a T30001BD amp for the next 18 haha
