Dmm tuning I guess

So I've just got my high output alternator in finally and installed it and big three now I have no more voltage drops which is nice

Here is my question though. With my gain and freq(hz) both all the way down. On my hd1200 hooked to my 12w7ho.. I put 3/4 vol on my head unit 60hz tone on freqgen app and my max volume is 50 so I have it on 35. And the dmm already reads 61. And The square root of 3000 is 54.7 so what is wrong with this picture??

This might be a long shot but is your bass boost on at all? With everything turned all the way down you should be seeing next to no output voltage wise.

Yes the hf 1200 has +-+- I have the 12w7ho on one +- an the dmm in the other +- since I'm not runnin a second sub

You should set the gains without the amp being under load when using a dmm so for starters I would probably disconnect the subwoofer. 60V is only 900 watts at 4 ohms refer to the chart http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/amplifiers/69112-gain-setting-tutorial-2010-a.html

Really it's a jl amp 1.5 to 4 ohm stable. All the time. How do u listen for clipping otherwise?

Never hurts to try though I just showered and cleaned up from the alt and water pump swap so I'll be a few before I can report if that works... Also I noticed the lo mid and high are not at 0 on the deck .. They are how they sound good in the truck. Like 4 .. 6 . And 9 should I zero them? The freqgen is hooked through the aux cord. And the aux setting is on 3 should I zero that?

Well you generally listen for sounds of distortion coming from the woofer and setting the gains with the dmm is to avoid clipping you most likely wouldn't hear clipping while setting the gains unless you were doing something very wrong I would peruse the link I posted above as it can most likely answer all of your questions.

The w7 is a 3ohm sub but yes as it is very windy And cold I will be doing this in the morning now and will post up my conclusions tomorrow. I will read and re read that link tonight. Thank you all so far

What happens after its all set and I adjust them? Does my voltage change?? Oh and are the speakers tested the same way? If so what hz freq to use and is the voltage calculated the same way? Even if I have jvc rear and ken wood fronts ??
