DMM tuning an amp with poor quality meter

I have a DMM that was ~$30 bucks, it says it can do RMS readings but its not 100% accurate. Like most poor quality meters the higher the frequency the lower the voltage measurement is. Il use 40~50 Hz tracks for tuning my sub amp. Do you think the voltage be off by a big enough margin to cause the amp to clip? Also on a saz 1500d should I shoot for a wattage above rated power? 1.6 ~ 1.7 Kw? I know the amp does above rated power, and iv got the electrical to back it up but I also know it takes 2x power for a 3db increase so I don't know if its worth it.. Any input would be great!

Thanks!!
