dmm on subs

Thought my problem was just an amp fuse but now I'm thinking my subs are screwed up. I'm ggetting a dmm (old one broke). When I hook it up, what should it read to indicate wether my subs are good or bad? The coils look fine to me

if he subs r already out of the box test each vc

it will read out the same as what type of vc u have

for instance if u have a dual 2 sub each one will read out around 2

single 4 will read out at 4 or around it

0 will indictate burnt coil

it should read what ohm your at. if its a little low thats cool. if u have a 4 ohm sub and lets say it reads 2 or so thats not good. do it on a flat surface try inside. Gl

Okay well my subs are 2 x 2 ohm...so if it reads 2 im okay? 0 not good? Do I put it on each set of voice coils?

yes do each set seperatly

1.7-2.3 u r alright

most of the time they will not be dead on

yup test each coil on its own

1f it says lets say 1.6 thats ok when u put power to the sub it will rise.

okay and i should disconnect all wires? Also, is there any way to tell if my amp is putting out power with a dmm?

do u have a power,ground,rca,rem in ya ride? jw

lick your fingers then put one on the + terminal and one on the - terminal at full tilt with gain maxxed

ps. i never tried this but im sure it will work

yeah all hooked up. amp powers on but subs dont work...looked at the sub wiring and its all good.

Lol I accidentally did that the other day. The wires did not have a good connection on the box wire port. So not thinking i pulled um out and went to re twist the ends. It did not take me long to realize it was a bad idea.

what type of amp and subs?

u might have them down to half ohm
