dmm help....

i got a kicker 2500 running @ 2 ohms, when i use my dmm, i'm supposed to be under 70 volts. but when i set the hu bass to zero and turn up the gains , i only can get to about 40 volts max, but heres the thing, i smell burning and my subs don't move very much..

whats the problem?

Do you have the subs connected when testing AC voltage?

If so, that is why. Subs create an active load.

nope, i can get to +3 on the hu, before the subs start distorting..but like i said they hardly move

he asked you if your subs are connected while testing, you say no, but also say the subs barely move. Are you testing unloaded? or not?

the subs are not connected when i check, but when i hook them back up thats when i have the problem

i did exactly this and still only get to about 40.5 i believe was the highest reading

You get 40V when the subs are disconnected?

you must have a load present on the amplifier. if your amp is not regulated, then you must have the speakers connected. if the amp is regulated, then you can disconnect the speakers and get a good reading.

i have a sub sonic filter set to 30HZ and the box is tuned to 33HZ
