DIY Speakers

I am thinking about doing some DIY components. I am wondering where to find my midbass at. I am interested in sq for midbass. I dont care about output. I do want them to able to reach high volume levels with little or no destortion though. What would be a good pair of midbass speakers for me. They will be IB. Price somewhere around 150-250.

Well I am selling a crossover on ebay right now, which now I hope doesnt sell. It is a Coustic XM-3e. I am not sure if thats passive or active.
That's OK....I don't believe the Coustic XM-3e doesn't offer all the functions you need. You need to be able to bandpass the mid with it, and IIRC the XM-3e only offers highpass on the front and rear channels.

And, BTW, that's considered active //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Anyways; first thing you need to decide is if you are going active or passive. If going active, remember that you will need one channel per speaker. So, if you are doing a 2-way frontstage, you'll need 4-channels of amplification.

The XXX mids run ~$279 IIRC.

Well you would be correct about the high-pass on the front and rear that is all it has. Now that I have a crossover that wont work with what I want to do, I guess DIY is out. Sorry for a now worthless thread, but your welcome for the free posts. Thanks for the help.
