Distrobution block started melting..Why?

Arcing would be visible. I am still saying it's from too much current being pulled through it and it's just producing alot of heat like an amp would when it's being driven hard.

it would catch on fire if it were getting hot enough to melt. its from arcing/sparks

Arcing and sparks would be more likely to cause a fire because of the abundance of flammable material in a car. And if this is in the rear it's probably very close to carpet. My reasoning still stands.

neither one would probably cause a fire...just melt the carpet..I've got schorched carpet in my truck to prove it...its going to smoke but no flames

Well given that about 40% of us here know what the hell we are doing and will make sure most every connection is tight I am still going to say it's the current reason. Pictures will help out though.

True, it could have been jarred loose from vibrations caused by bass, also was it stated there was a fuse or is this just a solid metal distro block? I think he said it has a fuse?
