distorted sound

a few days ago and i got them today and put them in. they sound alot better than the pos roadmasters that i took out but when i crank them up the vocals sound weird and its kinda hard to understand. my head unit is a pioneer deh 1500

the wire that comes out of it is about 1/16" around then i have it hooked to about 16 gauge could that be it? any help woud be great i have a pioneer deh-p2900mp head unit on the way do u think it will make it sound better

What are your EQ settings like on your headunit?

im not realy sure how do i chesck that? i have it on the vocal eq curve if that helps i tryed all the diffrent curves that are on it and vocal sounds the best

I will bet my life that the midrange area is boosted pretty high while everything else is cut. Set the EQ settings to flat to start with (that's your bass treble and midrange adjusters). From there, I would only cut frequencies but don't over do it. Go with what sounds best to you. I wouldn't, however, go with any of the preset EQ settings as they're usually pretty terrible.

Also, if you don't have an external amp, you should think about getting one if you aren't getting the output you want.

wow thanx i went out and adjusted the mid and it helped a little but it wasnt turned up it was on 0 but i took it to -4 and it helped and then i just started adjusting other things and they sound pretty good now haha thanx again
