Battery help

my system drained my battery today....when i shut the truck off...it wouldn't start back up.. .the store i went to i could only get a optimum red top....i wanted to yellow deep cycle....would it be a good idea to get a yellow top and throw the red top in the back....to help with the fact my lights still dim....i am also running a cap...i haven't done the big three yet does it make that big of a difference tho....
