Discover Credit Card offer

Some of you have credit cards or maybe want a new one.

I use discover. They have a deal where people who sign up can get $50 on their first purchase.

Unfortunately, this isn't cash and you have to shop through their "shop discover" portal. So, you buy a $50 giftcard for $40 and have the left rest over. You could also apply this $50 to your balance. So that if you bought an item that costs $50, you could apply this cashback to your balance, making the item free.

I have had discover for about 6 years and have had no problems with them at all. They have pretty good cash back and it's fairly clear. If you have any problems, the call center is staffed by Americans that talk like a normal person.

If interested, PM me your email address so I can send the offer.

Full Disclosure: I get a kickback

$50 is nothing, and signing up for a credit card is a big deal. You have to consider what it does to your credit. What it does to your credit affects your life a lot more than $50 does.

And I have no interest in Discover. I'll stick to Visa and Mastercard because regardless of what anyone claims, they are still accepted more often than Discover is. If I were to go with something other than Visa or MC, it would be AmEx, not Discover.

Does it? I just posted because I thought $50 was a good deal. What does chase have?

In what way?

I don't "do" credit cards. Even when my credit was good i'd get atleast 1 offer per week , never saw the point of spending someone else's money, then to pay it back a month later. Which is why alot of people have them I guess.

I keep a very healthy amount in savings and use my debit card for everything. The only point in my eyes for having a cc is for an emergency(if said person lacks any type of savings) or trying to build some good credit.

I'm not going to explain how credit works but I will give you a link to a cool site: Free Credit Score & Credit Report Card. No Credit Card Needed. Note that that site only hits one of the three major credit bureaus (TransUnion); there could be stuff on your record on the other two that aren't there.

If you don't want to sign up for anything (they are reputable, btw) then you can just Google it.

P.S. everybody here 18+ should have a credit card. It's how you build your credit. If you ever want to finance a car or house or anything like that, you need good credit, and that starts with getting a credit card (and paying it on time) even if you barely use it. Do note that 'barely use it' is not the same as 'don't use it.'

I only have a debit card. If I had a credit card I would pay if off at the end of the month so I don't have to pay interest. I am jsut too lazy want to have to deal with that.
Lol, me too. The less **** I have to deal with come bill time the better.

Creditkarma is good.

I disagree with the comment about how everyone should have a credit card. Some people just aren't very responsible and shouldn't be given that opportunity to fail.

Then they need to fix their irresponsibility, not feed their irresponsibility. Get off your ***** and get a credit card and f****** pay it and build your credit. You're not a bunch of 14 year olds being told by your dad to do some bullshit you don't want to do (mow the lawn or whatever). Or maybe you are a bunch of 14 year olds, in which case get a credit card in 4 years.

Yeah ck is good, all you do is register like any other site. They don't ask for payment info like other "free" credit offers. Quizzle is very similiar to ck but offers a little more info, for me atleast.

They do ask SSN, but any site/company dealing with your credit does, because your credit is linked to your SSN... which is actually illegal since SSN is not allowed to be used for identification, yet it is. There's a sloooooow push to disassociate SSNs with things they shouldn't be associated with, but it will be a while for credit since it is so deeply ingrained. In the meantime, they cannot look up your credit without your SSN.

Yep. 25 all right. Call someone who is giving you honest advice a jackass, and refuse to do something just because someone has advised you to do so.

When you turn 18 mentally, go ahead and get that credit card.
