Disappointed with out of W3...

If the bass is getting garbled, you might be having an issue with the amp, not the sub or you're reaching the limits of what the sub can do. Going with a ported box will help bring out the lows, or at least what most consider lows.
What should I be looking for on the amp? I want to fix this it's driving me crazy.

It like 80% where I want it.....I know it has to be somthing I'm doing wrong.

I hear you on the being disappointed with the w3 series. I got a good deal on a pair of 10w3v2 subs to install in my Civic ($90 for the pair) and I tried them out in my Mustang while waiting for my JL Audio Stealthbox to arrive. My 10s are each in their own .75 cubic foot sealed chamber and with 800 watts RMS going to them, I had to crank the volume pretty far to get them to play loud. Even worse, I had to break out the **** remote bass knob to get them to play lower frequencies, and I NEVER use remote bass!

Oddly, the single 13w6v2 that is in the sealed Mustang Stealthbox outperforms those two 10w3v2 subs with less RMS power. I am selling the 10w3v2 subs if I don't get acceptable bass out of them in my tiny *** 1997 Civic!

I've been trying to get a trade for a used SE or somthing along the same line.

I'm still not gonna give up. I have a few more things I'm gonna change and then I'm selling it.

Port them and your problem will be solved. I had the same issue with my W1. I had it sealed running off of 150watts. Installed it in a ported box tuned to 34Hz and waaaaalaahhh......sounds like a completely different sub. Its loud and goes pretty low for a budget setup.

You also might want to try adding some polyfil to the box.
x2. You should try this first. It's under $5 bucks and can make a huge difference in your 'low' end and help clean up that 'peakiness' you speak of. I'd try about 1lb.

An EQ can also help if you have a high-band one. I can tune the ~ 20, 30, 50, 80, 115Hz ranges with my PRS800. With this setup you could turn down the 50 and 80 that's giving you the peakiness and up the 20 and 30 for the low end.

Good advice. I already had about 20oz of polyfill in my box.

I saw the feature on my headunit to tune certain hz ranges up or down. I think you can go -6 to +6.

I'll let you know after I get a chance to play with it when I'm not working.

You may find you need to increase the gain to get the 50-80hz output you used to have, but you want to have to do this, because it'll also increase your 40 and below.

Also, have you tried less polyfill? If using too much it'll actually reduce your low end instead of improve it.

I did some adjustments and found out the on certain songs if I adjust the hz db level it sounds great.

I think I'm actually looking for the ported sound. Is it possible to get a little more resonance without loosing to much flat responce?
