Disappointed with JL 10W3V2

i think if you do some research on here for a while you are going to be really disappointed that you spent that much on subs and a box. i bought new and used equip from these classifieds consisting of AVN5435, 2 JBL BP and BPX amps, polk momo comps, and 1 12 for less than 900 bucks.
even if you wanted to stick with JL you coulda picked up a 13w7 for like 350 or so on here
true, right now im selling 2 13w7s for $900 to your doorstep!

If you gave those 2 10w3v2 JL subs only 300rms for the 'TWO' of them and the enclosure being sealed,I'm sure you're not satisfied. If you were to give those subs 300 rms each as JL suggests, have them wired correctly, those w3's should be some hard hitting ,punchy, subs.A couple of years ago,I had a pair of 10w3-3-4's,the new kind, wired for 2 ohms in a vented box ,powered by a JL 500/1.They were loud and booming. My friend had the same set up except that he had the 12" version w/vented box,and an Alpine MRD1005 amp wired for 2 ohms[1000 rms @ 2 ohms].Needless to say,he did get lower and louder, but for the 10's,the 500/1 ,vented box..it was stupid loud.Mine was in a 02 Nissan Altima,His............an 03' Explorer. My bass was in the trunk, his, was rear firing in the cab.The SUV set-up's are usually much louder. My friend, the manager of San Diego Car Stereo,is running 2-type "R"'s,vented box in a 2003 Silverado extended cab, with the PDX 1000.1 /150x4,all type'R''s,co-ax's-components,he has the Alpine IVA 205 double din touch screen, plays dvd's,I-Pod,myself,a 2005 Alpine 9847,good solid unit,no screen or video.I like the way mine sounds better than the truck, the SUV also from the shop is louder than both of us.I copied my friends systems because they sounded great, installed. We all have Alpine PDX/ TYPE 'R' set-ups--SUV-4x4,and 4 door sedan.Loud, clean, all have amazing systems, all different---whatever you get make sure you give the sub enough power,or you will never be happy.Alpine50..
I wired them at 1 ohm giving them 900 watts RMS, and I am not as disappointed.

Then again, I didn't buy the JLs for the Mustang, I actually purchased them to install in my Civic. I am quite sure they will work well in the Civic since it is a tiny *** car. Regardless, I only paid $90 for the pair used, so I can't complain too much.

Crap, looks like I am going to have a leftover L5.... I guess if I ever want to piss off the neighbors, I can drop that in the Civic with my Memphis 1.5KD //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You are seriously under powering them, thats the right amount for some W1's.

I have a 10W3V2 in a JL H.O. Bandpass box in my Focus and it is very impressive for a single 10" sub in a trunk car. I'd have to say it is close to the same as my 10W1's in my Probe were. I'm using one of my old but good MTX Thunder 280 amps to power it at 4ohm mono. It should be getting around 250-290 rms based off the birthsheets from the dozen or so I have owned since they 1st came out.

I have the Stealthbox in my F150, one that replaces center console, and it sounds decent. Not loud, but clean and hits low for a 10. It is the older 10W3 dual 6ohm vc though. I got the complete stealthbox new in the box for $174 shipped off ebay! Can't beat that really.

I've heard (2) 10W3 in a a truck and a hatchback in a large seale box with around 500-600 rms total and it sounded great and hit really low for for 10's.

it'll fit but u will be at the very min amount of air space
I know why I passed on the Q Logic enclosure now. It has a 10" mounting depth, BUT, if your magnet is 8" or larger in diameter, that depth goes down to 6".

The big problem is that Mustang trunks ****! I thought about building my own fiberglass box but I would have to purchase tools in addition to the fiberglass materials. Sure the tools/materials would probably come out cheaper, but there is a slight problem... I HATE working with fiberglass.
Regardless, I figured I would give the JL Audio Stealthbox a try since most installers told me that it is really hard to beat the sound produced by the Stealthbox in the newer Mustangs, even with a custom setup! If I don't like it, I can always return it because of the 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee, minus shipping fees of course.

I am glad that I did not purchase the fiberglass materials and tools make enclosures for the JL Audio Subwoofers to sit in each corner of the trunk. I know I would have just trashed everything after hearing how badly they sucked in the Mustang. I am planning on putting them in my Civic after I receive my Stealthbox, so hopefully they will sound better in there. If not, my younger brother is going to receive some free JL Audio 10W3V2 subs and a sealed enclosure!
Oh believe me i know, i have a 00' mustang, i have 13" of clearance from top to bottom and about 5" at those 13" and it declines for about 8" till it gets to 5" tall at the back of the trunk, not to mention the lights dont go up with the trunk so its **** near impossible to get a box IN once built by the proper measurements.

I had two 10W3v2's in a sealed enclosure and they were okay. I was only feeding them 250 watts into each sub. I had them in a cheap enclosure and it sounded okay but really lacked output. When I turned up the volume the sub was starting to distort. IMO I think you gonna have to go for something higher then W3v2's if you wanna hit the lows.
