i have a directed sx 15 that has a 4 in crack in it was trying to find a recone but with no luck.sub is n great shape other than cone and would really like to repair.if anyone has any info or ideas please let me know havrnt herd these n about 2 years would like to put them to use instead of taking up all my closet space.thanks any and everyone in advance.

Honestly, your best bet would probably try to do a DIY repair on the crack with some sort of adhesive/sealent and maybe a strip of light weight fabric on the underside of the cone. As long as you don't add too much extra mass it shouldn't effect performance noticably. The worst that could happen is that the crack could get bigger.

thanks, i mean mechanically they are fine i have 2 thats why i would like to fix the one.will do some research on adhesives as iv herd some may eat up some plastics. and if you had to what kind of fabric did you have in mind.i do have a roll of gorilla tape which is very strong but maybe i should see what kind of adhesive is used.thanks for the replys.

hell try the gorilla tape on the underside of the cone. Like I said, you can't really hurt it any worse. I don't know what kind of fabric to use, but I have heard of people using a small strip of fabric + adhesives/sealants. I'm guessing the fabric would give it a little more strength and hold the crack together a little better. But like I said, a custom recone can be pretty pricey and I'm guessing those subs aren't worth a couple hundred bucks in recone costs.... your best bet is try something simple to keep the crack from getting worse and bang away on them! You could probably get a decent woofer for the price of getting those reconed if you happen to damage it beyond use.
