Din vs Double Din

Is it worth it to buy a double din player compared to a single din. My stock clarion head unit is double din, but i need a new one and theres not too many double dins (+ they're more expensive).

Are there any "kits" or something i could buy that would go into the other half of the area my head unit takes up?

They make some little e/qs, but most the time those are 1/2 dins. Pioneer makes a full din EQ i think, it looks like a headunit kinda, i think ud have to fix something up so they'll both mount in there properly though.
