... yea i'm only running a jbl 180.2 (360rms @ 4ohms) and like 50 watts from my deck, and i have dimming at higher volumes with my head lights on... and granted, my gain is close to 3/4 (because i have my sub-out in the negatives) but should my elec really be that weak? I have a '91 Nissan NX 2000, so my alt probably isn't very big, but isn't this a bit ridiculous?

No big 3, didn't think i needed it with 300rms

Thanks for your input...

I Had that problem at 200 RMS but i bought a cap and it fixed my problem

how should i check my ground? you moved your ground and you didn't have dimming any longer?
Yes. You don't necessarily have to move it, just make sure it is screwed down onto a completely bare, shiny piece of metal.

alrighty, thank you sir

Sounds like your clipping the amp.
may be, but even a clipped 300w amp shouldn't change things much.

Most of the power increase from clipping comes from an increase in efficiency of the amp when clipped, not so much from extra current being drawn.

Psycho, what about dimming from other electronics (hu off)?? When you flip on your blower motor, or press the brakes?

I would check the grounds but I doubt it is it. I would check to make sure that the amp is not bridged past it's rated power handling. I would think that maybe the amp is not the main culprit. I would bet that either the battery or the alt is faulty. Have those checked out at autozone like previously suggested and see what they say. If you still have problems then I would say that something in the electrical system is wired wrong. If your amp is hooked up correctly then it should not be dimming with only 300Wrms.

i agree with everyone else, except the guy laughing about the cap, they do have purpose.

Get the battery and alternator checked. Then check your ground connections, for the battery grounds too. Also, assuming you haven't already, check your positive connections at the battery. Corrosion *****.

Maybe if you have acess to a clamp meter check and see how much current your amp is drawing too.
