Digital Designs sound opinion.

spiders that aren't spaced IMO are a no no.. not only does it create noise but its does little to help keep those long coils linear under extreme excursion..

alignment is critical on the new high output drivers.. your much better off getting mirror spiders spaced..

the 9500s do have some mechanical noise but 99% of the time the output is so much louder its not really audible..

lulz. OLD pic. two of only 10 produced ever.

True. Spiders spaced close together are generally done simply to reduce suspension compliance (make it stiffer), but do almost nothing to reduce 'coil rocking'. I will keep my opinions on this suspension setup to myself though, Im in enough arguments around here already. I dont need the DD guys tugging on my nuts today too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Usually when someone describes a 'hollow' sound from a system, its due to speaker/enclosure alignment, not simply the raw speaker itself. Since DD does not reveal t/s specs, who knows if the (SQ) enclosure recommendations they provide give anywhere near a .707 alignment (butterworth, considered 'ideal' for most people).

Holy old thread BATMAN! I see now that it was just that particular series.....to put in better words the 9512F had too much of a "mechanical" sound. The box was around 3 cubes @ 39hz......still got loud! But now with the all the DD set-ups i have heard and now owning the 3500 series ...i can say the same can not be said for all their products.......the 3518's are straight BUTTER!

Most of what seperates one sub from another is frequency response. All DD subs are tuned around 40hz usually. Getting the hollow sound can be done with most subs if you can get the same response curve. My guess is a pretty sharp peak in the 45-55hz area. The lack of shit your pants notes and audible loudness to the ear is a lack of lowend, which makes sense being tuned to high.
I'm @ 28hz and LOVING it! lol Brown note equipped as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I would only go with TC sounds or DD I love their 8's I have seen 2 8's hit a 140 off of 300 watts Idc what other people say about DD they make phenominal products and if they wanna hide their specs that's fine same reason why IA hides theirs

Ive heard 1500s, 2500s, 3500s, and 9500s. They all sound like dick.
They have alot of output, but theres no ass behind it. The note isnt solid at all.
Then they were doing it wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I would never buy DD products.
Nothing wrong with wanting stay quite bro
