Before i start,let me think of the right way to word this, well i've heard a few systems runnin DD, and i recently started running one myself,the thing is i noticed a unique kind of bass that comes from these subs,i have heard them in the range of 10 to 18,in many diff enclosures,yet i notice that they all have the same,dare i say "hollow" to them,which i'm not saying is bad,i love the unique sound,just sayin it's different,i got about 2400 watts goin to mine and it hits hard,just kinda punchy and extra loud,i dunno, but does anyone else kinda know what i'm sayin,if you have heard or you own DD , do you notice that kinda difference?

I've ran dd1508's, a 9915, an aq hdc318 and the only one that gave the "hollow" sound was the dd1508's. Who knows maybe it was the enclosure.

I'm not saying it's a bad sound,just saying all DD's that i have heard got this punchy/rumbly/hollow sound,which i like,maybe it's just me

I will have my DD1508 in soon but I will have a lower tune to try to sqeeze out some SQ. I will play with some higher tunes also just to see how it sounds.

I always kinda thought they had a hard sound to them, Depending on the enclosure and install, it seemed liked the higher you tuned them and the larger the enclosure the harder they sounded , but I have been known to talk out of my a** before , maybe extremly light cone with a ton of motor force?

Yeah,you know what i'm sayin,this one dude said "rugged" and i think that perfectly describes the sound,it's fukkin great,and that is why i will buy DD from now on out,do AQ's have that kind of sound i wonder?, anybody notice a similarity?

I dont know but i got a pair of dd 1508s in a really shitty box slot ported, 40hz and they dont sound "hollow" or anything, they hit HARD for both the size, and the measily 125 rms to each one hahaha.. Cant wait to get a real amp on these things.

Ok hollow wasn't the best term,they hit hard,it just aggressive and rugged is all i'm sayin, basically great!

Well im not sure what you mean then.. I dont really know what you meant by the different sound.. by saying hollow i thought you meant loud just not hitting hard and rattling the trunk or something of that nature.. They definitly seem pretty rugged. Even these little 8's im sure you have read about them, surprise me how **** loud they are, and right now only 125 rms to each..

The first DD i heard was a buddys 15, we never found out what model it was but im guessing it was a 9500 or one of the higher end models, its an older one. Running it off 2400 rms from a planet audio, holy shit that thing slammed for only sub.. I really like DD and when i get another car, i am going to go for another DD, but hopefully a 15 or two.. haha

They do sound hollow. They dont have that full, rich tone that many other subs have. I dont like their sound playing music, and wouldnt use them for anything more than burps.

They get loud, but because of the hollow sound, they dont seem it to the ear. Thats every DD sub ive ever heard.

I would have to agree my 9515 got **** loud but it was a thud not a sub i would run for daily driving and listening to music, but that is my opinion.
