Ok, right now I have a ml320, which i was told by many shops is a pain to work on, just because everything is bolted down by a million screws. there is a lot of room to work with behind the HU, but getting there sucks. i don't have experience with other cars, but i would tend to agree its a pain, counting all the cuts i have. Are japanese cars significantly easier to work on? Some friends with corollas and civics say everything pops off pretty easily, and only have a few screws here and there. Are lexuses and bmw's along the same lines as a mb, as in they are hard to work with?

reason is, i vowed to never get another aftermarket car stereo, since i've had problems with mine on my current car. but now that i ditched the shop, and started troubleshooting on my own, all the connections etc seem pretty basic, the only real difficulty is in dismantling the trim parts. now i kind of would consider installing a system on a new car, if only it were easier to disassmble the car.

what makes them pains? harder to dismantle, ie most screws and bolts? when i opened my car up, the clowns that did my car left a bunch of screws rolling around under the carpeting.

shoot, from the factory, 9 of the rear end bolts were finger tight. i noticed a leak when my truck was parked at an insane incline, then was like what the hell, and thats from Chevrolet!!! pains as in wiring, german auto makers are the hitler of aftermarket electronics.

Thats because its like working on a set of power wheels....the technology is pretty close to the same
the only thing more advanced about our porsches than my truck and my dads truck, is the performance engineering end of it. inside, it is the same, if not a little simpler and less advanced in the porsche. and most euros are a completely different breed of animal than a american car. $85k-120k 4 dr sedan vs. a caddy. that just isnt right. apples to oranges.

ML320 isn't all that hard to work on.
Yeah, some people said there is a lot more room/space especially since its an suv, but on the other hand you have to rewire just about everything, and the number of screws everywhere becomes a hassle.

In a nutshell, I'm just curious because if a certain brand of car is easier to work on, maybe I will consider getting that after this one is dead (which is probably soon considering how many times i've taken it to the shop for warranty work)

I owned a subaru once and I got so frustrated with the factory head unit out I had to finally "rip" it out then I was left with a huge hole in the dash that nobody made a stereo kit for it. So I ghetto rigged some thick tinted plexiglass and made my own kit. Its not that way for all imports though my next car was an acura integra that install was a snap.

^^I'll get hell for saying it but I dont care since im only stating the truth^^[/quote
Hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There ya go I gave it.
