[QUOTE="ismelllikepoop, post: 1972976, member: 558823"] Ok, right now I have a ml320, which i was told by many shops is a pain to work on, just because everything is bolted down by a million screws. there is a lot of room to work with behind the HU, but getting there sucks. i don't have experience with other cars, but i would tend to agree its a pain, counting all the cuts i have. Are japanese cars significantly easier to work on? Some friends with corollas and civics say everything pops off pretty easily, and only have a few screws here and there. Are lexuses and bmw's along the same lines as a mb, as in they are hard to work with? reason is, i vowed to never get another aftermarket car stereo, since i've had problems with mine on my current car. but now that i ditched the shop, and started troubleshooting on my own, all the connections etc seem pretty basic, the only real difficulty is in dismantling the trim parts. now i kind of would consider installing a system on a new car, if only it were easier to disassmble the car.
