Differences between 10" and 12" subs

I apologize if there has been a thread on this already...guess I didn't search enough. Anyways, I want to know what the difference is between 10" and 12" subs besides there size.

For the most part yes, sometimes on cheapers subs the motor is different, also spiders etc. are bigger

I could've sworn I've seen or heard somewhere tha 10's are a little punchier. But I could be wrong

thats a pretty broad generalization dont you think? Not to mention all things you just listed all have to do with size....

usually larger subs will sound a bit boomier and have more output, usually

Of course with the right box you can make 10's sound great all around and with the wrong box you can make 2 15's sound bad

10s" do sound a little punchier. I've mostly owned 12" throughout my entire life and now run 10s." Don't get me wrong, I love my 10s" but most assumptions made within this thread are pretty accurate. I think the type of music you mostly listen to would make a difference in deciding which size you might like more overall.

I love the 10s" for the fact they take up less space and sound great with electro and rock music.

I'd like to know if anyone believing that subwoofer size (within reasonable dimensions, not talking about 30" one-offs) makes a difference with "punchiness", heard those larger drivers under the same conditions as the smaller ones, including crossover slopes, midbass potential, etc...

18's can sound just as "punchy" as an 8. If you're going to choose between sizes, choose based on enclosure sizes or potentially, competition class if you care about that sort of thing.
