Difference between single coil and dual coil subs?

I was wondering if someone could explain the difference between single coil subs and dual coil subs?

Single vc subs have 1 VC. Dual VC subs have 2.

Dual coils offer greater flexibility in wiring. In SPL applications, it allows you to run multiple amps on one sub.

No, theres no sound advantage of a dual coil over a single. They're just handier.
