Diference between 2 ohm and 4 ohm.

alright well i was wondering... what is the diffrence between 2 ohms and 4 ohms.. because i picked up a 4 ohm subwoofer.. will it matter much? im completely new to the car audio scene and need some insight.. thanks
Do you know if it is single voice coils or dual voice coils? The ohms is just the resistance of the sub. do you know the type of sub and model number? If you do I can tell you which amps will work well.

The 4ohm speaker has twice the nominal impedance of the 2ohm speaker.

Depends on your amplifier. The impedance doesn't matter to a subwoofer being "good" or "bad"....but the one thing it does affect is how much power the speaker will receive from the amplifier.

Make sure that you find an amplifier that will give you the power you need into a 4ohm load, assuming that is a single voice coil speaker you have there.

what would you get for something under 500 btw its two speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
